Citizen Volunteers, Supporting Our Police

We Support Those Who Keep Us Safe.

The McKinney Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization formed by graduates of the McKinney Citizens Police Academy course, offered by the McKinney Police Department. That’s the “Who.” A more interesting question is the “Why”…

Have you ever stopped to think what kind of person dedicates their life to helping others, to the point where they are willing to put their life on the line? We have. We think the members of the McKinney Police Department are awesome. Few of us can do what they do. But what we can do is to support them in any way we can. We do things like sponsor an awards banquet. We raise funds to restock their break rooms. We show up to public events to show our support. And we encourage the public to join us and get involved. It may not seem like much. But to the police, it shows them, every day, that we appreciate the work they do.

So what about the “How?” The first step, if you want to join us, is you have to take and graduate from the City’s Citizens Police Academy. It’s a 12-week course that is taught by officers and civilian employees who will give you an idea of what they do, and what it’s like to work for the police. Crime Lab, K9’s, SWAT – you’ll get a look at it all. When you graduate, you’ll be able to join the Alumni and Back the Blue in some very important and valuable ways.
